This pub is on the right hand side of the A38 about 1/2 mile after you turn out from Notter Bridge towards Plymouth. The atmosphere is homely.

Just Be 01752214356

Whether you are choosing from the food menu or just fancy a hot drink or a glass of wine, Just Be is a place where you can truly relax and enjoy the remarkable surroundings. Just Be is not a conventional cafe, bar, or restaurant- rather a place where you can take as little or as much time as you like sampling different dishes, with accompanying wine choice if required. We have taken a great deal of time to source the finest coffees, teas, wines and food ingredients. Indulge yourself as you wish, and escape from the pace of life outside.

Inn on the Shore, Downderry   01503 250027
A pub with a great Iocation situated directly over-looking Downderry beach. Snack and full menu available. Takes about 15 mins to drive to. It is behind the church hall in the centre of Downderry, with plenty of parking.

The Springer Spaniel, Treburley 01579 370424
For those of you who don't mind travelling a bit further to find excellent pub food, The Springer Spaniel has won various awards and is named in the `The Good Pub guide 2006' with a great seasonal menu. There is a bar area and a more formal dining area. Booking advisable particularly in summer. If you go, make sure you have Springer chips and Springer ale!!! It takes about 20 minutes to drive to and costs for 2 courses, approx £12-15 per person. Treburley is on the Callington to Launceston road - you can't miss it.

Langmans, Calllngton  01579 384933
Only open Thurs, Friday and Saturday evenings more's the pity! An excellent restaurant in Callington. They have two fixed menus. The taster menu is a six course meal for around £30 per head, the wine is extra. Also, they have gourmet evenings, which include a different selected wine with each course for about £50 per head. Booking essential.

The View, Whitsand Bay   01752822345
As seen on Caroline Quintin's Cornwall programme on BBC, set high on  the cliffs at Whitsand Bay on the stunning Rame peninsular, 'The View' is modern and Vibrant.  The menu changes daily, with a bias towards fish and seafood in the spring and summer, more meat dishes appear as the Autumn leads to winter. A great place to take in some fine Cornish views and watch the sunset on a summers evening.

Tapenades, Liskeard  01579344844
A wonderful restaurant hiding in Liskeard in South East Cornwall with a deceptively small front which belies the spacious rooms inside. This restaurant is the best for service, cuisine, choice and attention to detail. The standards never drop, there is always something new on the menu.
At Tapanades they prepare wonderful fresh, Iocal food, using first class products which are beautifully cooked and presented. What’s more the staff are always polite & welcoming.

Finny Gook Inn, Crafthole  01503230338
One of our personal favourites. You can enjoy a real log fire and eat out in comfort or take in the wonderful sea views from the beer garden. It’s also the perfect spot for enjoying a pub lunch after an invigorating walk along the beach, bringing the family for a Sunday roast, or treating yourselves to dinner or a light bite.

A bit further away…

Restaurants worth the travel for - if you fancy a special occasion or perhaps you are visiting the Local area anyway, here is a small selection of restaurants that are a Little further (but still not too far!) to get to.

Rick Stein
Most of you will have heard of, and seen Rick Stein on the television. He owns several eating-places in Padstow including the following...

The Seafood Restaurant, Padstow 01841 532700
We have had several superb meals both at Lunchtime and in the evening. The atmosphere is informal, more so at Lunch than in the evening. A meal for two with a bottle of wine would cost approx £100-£120. Booking well in advance is essential and in peak weeks if you haven't already booked you won't stand a chance!!

St Petrocs Bistro, Padstow  01841 532700
The atmosphere is bustling and Lively where bold, modern paintings brighten the white walls of the bistro. There is a courtyard and pretty garden for al fresco eating albeit with parasols and space heaters to compensate for the variable weather.

Steins Fish & Chips, Padstow  01842 532700
For those wanting something a Little Less expensive try his fish and chips, take away or eat in, which are fantastic and well worth the money at about £5-£l0. Check for opening times on the website, as they vary.

Jamie Oliver
Fifteen , Watergate Bay 01637 861000
The kitchen's philosophy is to keep it simple. Let good food speak for itself. Minimum fuss, just a fusion of great tasting ingredients rustically plated up and served with a postcard perfect view of the beach. What's more, the menu changes twice a day, every day, adding a Little Cornish flare to the rustic Italian dishes they're known for. Booking essential.

There is huge range of excellent restaurants in Plymouth and it is impossible to give details of all here. Some examples include...
