Notter Mill is ideally located with easy access via the A38 to the rest of Cornwall and into Devon. Whilst we cannot hope to tell you about all of the attractions and events in the area, we have highlighted a few that we have had personal experience of and are worth a visit.
Flambards is the West Country's Leading family attraction with rides for everyone, family fun and entertainment and is a great day out. It is near Helston (about 2 hours away) and our advice is get there early
Monkey Sanctuary, Looe
Whilst the original idea with this project was to breed monkeys and reintroduce them into the wild, the ethos for the sanctuary has now changed as the original idea proved to be impractical. They now focus on providing monkeys with a safe environment. Hint: do not visit on a rainy day as all the monkeys go inside!! More info is available in the reception.
Miniature Pony Centre, Dartmoor
A fun day out for the family in Devon, with miniature ponies and much, much more. Situated in an idyllic setting in the heart of scenic Dartmoor, there is plenty of beautiful countryside to explore.
This is just off the A38 on the right as you travel towards Liskeard. They have both Junior and Adult Karts. Average speed per lap for adult cars is around 30mph
Fishing is available at Bake Lakes, a very quiet and tranquil setting at Trerulefoot, open until dusk every evening. Equipment is available for hire.
Minack theatre, Porthcurno
This open-air theatre is located just before Lands End. This is well worth a visit if you can get tickets for a performance and don't mind the 2 hour drive. Perhaps combine it with a trip to Lands End and Sennan Cove. The stage is in front of the sea, and if you are not mesmerised by the performance, you will be by the view in this majestic setting. Arrive in plenty time as seating is not allocated and the front seats have slightly more room. If it is a matinee performance take a picnic and eat in your seats before the performance. Cushions are available to rent in the theatre and well worth it. If it is a sunny day take sun cream and a hat as it can get amazingly hot, if raining take full waterproofs!
Sterts Theatre, Liskeard
This is another open-air theatre, a bit closer to home being located at Upton Cross near Liskeard. It does have a roof but you are strongly advised to take a cushion. Look out for the special children’s production throughout the summer season. It has an intimate atmosphere in an unusual setting.
